It is widely believed that not only the food but also the environment is important. Nothing beats the pleasure of dining outdoors in pleasant weather in the countryside, by the pool, under the twinkling stars or simply on a sunny morning. If you’re planning to transform your backyard or just wondering where to put that giant grill you just bought, an outdoor kitchen plan could be just the ticket.
Strategy for designing an outdoor kitchen
You can start building a deck (patio) out of brick or wood to create a platform for your backyard kitchen. The location of the kitchen is very important. Space should flow from your main living area to the outdoor kitchen and commuting to the outdoor kitchen should be easy. If the patio is close to the pool, there should be some space to walk to and from the pool.
A separate entrance to the house would be desirable. The outdoor kitchen should be close to the main indoor kitchen, preferably separated by a patio door. The kitchen accommodates a raised wooden platform with wooden cabinets, a BBQ and a sink. The platform can be used as a prep area while the cabinets can be used to store cutlery for al fresco dining. And if you think dinner isn’t complete without a glass of good wine, adding a minibar to your outdoor kitchen plan would be a good idea.
