Do you stumble over coats, jackets, shoes and scarves when entering your home? With a simple set of wall hooks or a nice coat rack, you can easily transform your entryway to keep your floors clutter-free and looking clean and organized. Below is a list of five expert tips to help you choose the right colors and styles that best complement your home.
Where do you place wall hooks and wardrobes?
Wall hooks and coat racks are more than practical and functional objects. Most have their own personality that can add style to any room in your home. When choosing a wall hook or coat rack, consider the space available and the number and type of items that need to be stored in it.
- The most obvious place for wall hooks and wardrobes is the entrance area, because this is where you usually take off your winter clothes and enjoy the warmth at home. It should be noted that the wardrobe is expected to carry a lot of weight. So if you choose a wall-mounted variant, it must be installed properly (see tip 4).
- Restrooms tend to have tight spaces, so you can benefit from using individual wall hooks to store towels, for example. You can also choose from a range of wall hooks integrated into a wall shelf. These fit nicely above toilets or higher on your bathroom wall and can hold towels, loofahs, clothes and even necklaces. The shelf offers additional space for toilet paper, toiletries or decorative items.
- In the bedroom you have more space to work. Here you can try a corner closet that has hooks for clothes, shelves for storing shoes below, and space for additional storage of important items upstairs.
- If you’re working with a large open space, consider a standing wardrobe. These can be placed next to your couch and provide guests with a convenient place for hats and scarves. Choosing the right material and color makes this practical piece of furniture a statement in its own right.
How do you choose the perfect wardrobe for your needs?
Think of your wardrobe as the finishing touch—or an accent piece. If you are currently working with shabby chic decor, for example, a pastel colored hook or frame with metal parts fits this style perfectly. If you want your wardrobe to disappear into the background, so to speak, you can choose a color that suits your walls. On the other hand, if you prefer clear walls or just want to use specific artwork for your walls, you can use a standing frame. Also, this style is mobile. So if you want to move it to another room, all you have to do is pick it up and put it down.
Think about how many coats, scarves and hats will be hanging on your clothes rack. Billing with family members is pretty straightforward, but also consider how many guests you can accommodate at one time. This will give you a good idea of how many hooks you will need.
Sometimes space is limited. For example, if you have a small hallway closet and want to try adding a coat rack, a wall coat rack is a great option. This style is literally packable, averaging six hooks (along with some counter space!). They are space-saving and fit perfectly in small closets.
