Bathroom tiles come in a variety of materials. These can be stone, plastic, ceramic, cork, porcelain, wood and vinyl tiles.
Stone Tiles – made from different stones such as marble, granite, slate or even limestone. They come in a variety of colors and textures, but they’re high maintenance and require a lot of regular cleaning and sealing. They are also more expensive than porcelain or ceramic tiles.
Plastic laminate – is easy to care for and durable, but does not tolerate moisture well and therefore special care must be taken to prevent water from penetrating the fiberboard core.
Ceramic and Porcelain – These tiles look very elegant, are scratch-resistant and wear-resistant. However, they are difficult to maintain and not as comfortable when walking barefoot. They are also not easy to install.
Cork tiles – are warm and come in a variety of colors and shades. They need two coats of polyurethane to protect them from water. They are also easy to install.
Wooden floors – are not recommended at all Tiles for bathrooms. When water gets into them, they leave permanent stains. They also need a double layer of polyurethane for protection.
Vinyl – These are the most popular as they are the least expensive and most practical. It is also durable and offers a lot of safety and comfort. These tiles are also easy to install and look good. Vinyl can be cut with a utility knife and also has self-adhesive properties.
